I'm a chef, I'm an artist. This site is designed to let you see both aspects of myself, and give those who are interested an avenue to easily see my work. For me, there is no difference. Whether I'm painting or cooking it is an act of creation. I do it for myself as well as for the recognition I get from the people for whom I am hopefully bringing some amount of pleasure.
Many of my paintings are inspired by over 3 decades of involvement with the tropical fish hobby both professionally and as an avid lover of sea life. I am also interested in the fundamentals of composition, and how the bones of a painting can, with the careful control of color be used to create space.
My food is in development as I am currently still learning so much. What I know so far is that I respect my ingredients, I want the best and I don't want to ruin them by over-manipulation. Neither am I afraid to push the limits on how they may be used, and what flavors are unexpectedly good together. I also believe all of one's senses are involved when it comes to food, and a plate should look good, smell good, and of course taste good. Our other senses should be addressed by the ambiance, the service, and the pace and presentation of the meal.
